Data the extension uses

Tabriage reads tab metadata supplied by Chrome: URL, title, window, position, pinned state, audio state, active state, discarded or frozen state, group ID, and last-access time. This data is used only to display the tab inbox and perform actions you request.

Tabriage does not read page content, form input, cookies, passwords, authentication tokens, downloads, or your general browser history.

Data stored on your device

Chrome local extension storage may contain your settings, pages explicitly saved for Later, and short-lived recovery snapshots for tabs closed through Tabriage. Later is capped at 2,000 items. Recovery history expires after seven days and is also capped by action and tab counts.

Uninstalling the extension normally removes this local data according to Chrome's extension-storage behavior.

Optional website icons

Website icons are off by default. If you enable them, Chrome shows its own optional permission prompt: “Read the icons of the websites you visit.” When granted, Tabriage uses Chrome's Manifest V3 favicon service to display icons. Turning the switch off removes that optional permission. Tabriage does not use an external favicon provider.

Backup files

When you explicitly choose Export JSON, Tabriage asks the browser to save a local file containing settings, Later items, and recovery records. Import reads only the file you select, validates it locally, rejects unsupported URL schemes, and merges it without uploading anything.

Network use and sharing

No automatic data transfer

The extension does not send tab metadata or stored records to Tabriage, analytics vendors, advertisers, or any third party. Its extension-page Content Security Policy blocks network connections.

The separate tabriage.com website does not contain analytics or advertising scripts in the version maintained in this repository. Normal web hosting may process standard request information such as IP address and user agent; the chosen hosting provider's policy applies to that infrastructure.

Your controls

  • Remove individual Later items or mark them done.
  • Export a portable local backup.
  • Turn website icons, sound, and celebration effects on or off.
